Abstract

Wireless LAN is wireless technology that can be used for voice and data communication. The increase of user requirement in Wireless LAN system caused the development of Wireless LAN increasing too. Standard of Wireless LAN is IEEE802.11a/b/g and IEEE802.11n use OFDM and MIMO technique for increase data rate without additional bandwidth. The purpose of this final task is to find the better location of the pilot than the standard orthogonal on 802.11n Wireless LAN with data rate up to 600Mbps. The design of this pilot is expected to increase the throughput of the generated by Wireless LAN. The system design using genetic algorithm differential evolution formed with MAtlab programming. Where each individual selected by algorithm is an individual that represents the better location of the pilot than orthogonal pilot. The established of optimum composition of the pilot then simulated with 802.11n Wireless ALN simulator. So the SNR vs BER of orthogonal pilot IEEE 802.11n Wireless LAN can be compared to optimal pilot of Genetic Algorithm. The result gave conclusion that pilots set obtained by Genetic Algorithms, generate BER vs SNR better than the orthogonal pilot Wireless LAN 802.11n either on channel B and channel D. The optimal pilot of D channesl generated 33db SNR for BER 10 -6 while orthogonal pilot generated SNR 33.5db. The optimal pilot of B channels generated 29.5db SNR for BER 10 -4 , while the orthogonal pilot generated 30db SNR. This means Genetic Algorithm can be used to obtain a better pilot placement than the orthogonal pilot. Keyword : Wireless LAN, IEEE802.11n, Optimal Pilot
