Abstract

Background. Nutritional status of child depend on some factors, such as complementary feeding given to child since 4 months should contain enough calorie and protein. Sometimes lack of quantity and quality of complementary feeding because of lack of knowledge of the mothers how to compose nutritious complementary feeding. The aims of the study : to observe the difference between calorie and protein amount in complementary feeding (CF) and child nutritional status before and after the mother got education. The pre- and post test design study performed to 20 samples were taken from mother in fisherman family who has child 0-24 months. Data collection used interview method, while child weight were measured with dacin in kilograms, and length were measured with centimeters when they visited posyandu. Nutritional status was assessed with anthropometri with cut of point z scopre-2SD from WHO-NCHS. Data analysis using SPSS for Win ver 7.0. Statistic test used was Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, with significancy point < 0,05. Results. Most of children were given complementary feeding too early. The calorie and protein amount of CF increases but not significant. Based on z score, weight for age, height for age and weight for height of children in Bandarhardjo was -1,4555 ; -0,9370 and 0,00445. There was significance difference in height for age z score before and after treatment (p=0,03), but there were not significance difference In weight for age and weight for height z score.
