Abstract
Weed is a plant that is considered by farmer as nuisance and unwanted planted plant due to its bad effect to crop. The decrease of harvest occurs because of competition among weed and crop. To increase crop production, commonly farmers use chemical based pesticides and fertilizer, which is harmful to environment. To maintain environmental condition, organic agriculture practices which prevent chemical product application, are applied. A kind of crop which widely grown is carrot (Daucus carrota L.). Carrot contains many vitamins which is beneficial for our health. Weed grown in the carrot field could decrease carrot harvest. The objectives of this research are to identify diversity of weed of carrot and to determine abundance of carrot weed on organic crop. Weed of carrot was grown up to 3 months using 4 treatments i.e., farmyard manure, green manure, EM4, and control (without manure and EM4). Weed sampling was conducted by identifying all weeds species and by counting its individual numbers. Plot size was 1m x 1m, with 3 replications. Physical condition was recorded. The most number of weed was found in the tratment using farmyard manure, while on the contrary, the lowest was found in the field without manure (control).
