Abstract

NPK fertilizer is a type of compound fertilizer containing more than one nutrient that is used to increase soil fertility. Compound fertilizer which is often used is because it contains a compound NPK fertilizer ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3), ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (NH4H2PO4), and potassium chloride (KCl). Levels of nutrients N, P, and K in fertilizer compound represented by the composition of certain figures. For example, fertilizer NPK 10-20-15 fertilizer means that the there is 10% nitrogen, 20% phosphorus (as P2O5) and 15% potassium (as K2O). Spectrophotometer is an instrument to measure the transmittance or absorbance of a sample as a function of wavelength and measurement of a series of samples at a single wavelength. Analysis of the practicum was conducted to determine the absorbance and transmittance of NPK fertilizer solution based on the analysis of the results of the spectrophotometer, and the results of the calculation of absorption analysis of NPK fertilizer solution. The relationship between absorption wavelength and inversely NPK fertilizer because the larger the smaller the wavelength of absorbed power. This is caused by light absorbed by the solution of NPK fertilizer NPK less because not dissolve completely in distilled water and in time they will settle. Analysis performed using an Optima spectrophotometer type SP-300.
