Abstract

Solid drayed meaning water separate from solid substance. One of drying equipment is rotary dryer, it consist of one rotary cylinder, horizontal, or rather oblique downwards with DCS (Distributed Control System), in order to control manufacturing process continually or batch-oriented. In this case using 5 kg Petai Cina each experimental variable with 2 minutes time sample. Drying can be done on 86°C, 78°C, and 71°C Largest drying flow it’s on 86°C as big as 1,582651 lb / ft2 h. Meanwhile on 78°C as big as 1,169272 lb / ft2 h and on 71°C as big as 0,940284 lb / ft2 h. The biggest water evaporated material on 86°C as big as 3,6%. On temperature 78°C and 71°C that is evaporated water rate as big as 3% and 2%. More drying time it takes, more evaporated water loss and also the drying flow. Drying flow straight equal with temperature and equal with evaporated H2O. As a result, the best operational condition is on temperature 86°C because it’s the highest evaporated water and also the larger drying flow that can make the petai cina more dry.
