Abstract

Basil (Ocimum basilicum) constitutes one of fixed oil producer plant. Basil oil take usually been done by water and steam distillation. This final task will try to make basil oil with vacuum distillation process and knows the conversion that resulting. Distillation constitutes to methodic mixture separation a substance bases distinctive boiling point. Vacuum distillation is done on pressure less than 1 atm. Volatile fixed oil on room temperature and has aroma that variably accords its producer plant. Basil constitutes clump plant, its oil a lot of is utilized for flavoring agent, perfume, and soap deodorant material. Vacuum Distillation tool series consisting of raw material tank, product tank, condensor, and vacuum pump. Oil making process cover pretreatment on raw material, tool preparation, distillation process, and product analysis. Basil that is utilized as much 3 Kg for each one attempt. Dissolving compare (water) with basil which is 2:1. distilasi is done up to 3 hours, 4 hours, and 5 hours. Conversion that resulting at most on attempt 3 hours which is as big as 0,0833%. On attempt 4 hours and 5 hour results conversion as much 0,042% and 0,0287%. Resulting oil density as big as 0,833 gr / ml; 0,84 gr / ml; 0,86 gr / ml. Basil oil refractive index as big as 1,476; 1,485; 1,487. Resulting basil oil have acid number as big as 1,35; 1,34; 1,31 and numeral latherings as big as 7,2; 6,68; 6,5. Resulting basil oil rust colored brownish, tangible molten with basils typical aroma. Base GC MS morphological result, basil oil contain main component as geraniol (7,86%), Z. sitral (7,02%), eugenol's methyl (4,88%), linalool (2,03%), and carboksilat acid. From this experiment can take condition conclusionn that nicest on attempt up to 3 hours since results conversion highest and resulting oil quality have accomplishe
