Abstract

Drying (drying) solids means the separation of small amounts of water or other liquids from solid materials. One of the rotary kiln dryer (rotary dryer) which consists of a rotating cylindrical sleeve, horizontal, or slightly sloping downward toward the outside and equipped with DCS (Distributed Control System) which aims to control the manufacturing process is continuously or batch-oriented. Materials used in this lab is the material of chili, red onion and garlic. In this lab for each - each ingredient made of three variables. Each variable the same weight is 2 kg. Drying is carried out at a temperature of 60 ° C, 70 ° C, 80 ° C. From lab work in getting the rate of drying is increasingly rising. For the chili at a temperature of 60 ° C at 3.035 lb / ft2 hours, at 70° C of 4.707 lb / ft2 h and temperature 80 ° C of 8.472 lb / ft2 hours. As for the red onion at a temperature of 60 ° C for 6.709 lb / ft2 hours, temperature 70 ° C of 17.787 lb / ft2 h and temperature 80 ° C of 20.963 lb / ft2 hours. And for the garlic at a temperature of 60 ° C of 20.318 lb / ft2 hours, temperature 70 ° C of 36.369 lb / ft2 h and temperature 80 ° C of 49.831 lb / ft2 hours. Similarly, water levels rose teruapakan on the material. For the chili at a temperature of 60 ° C by 4%, temperature 70 ° C by 7.3%, and 80 ° C of 8.6%. As for the red onion at a temperature of 60 ° C by 5.3%, temperature 70 ° C by 9.3%, and 80 ° C by 10%. And for the garlic at a temperature of 60 ° C by 8.6%, temperature 70 ° C by 10.6%, and 80 ° C by 12%. The higher the temperature and the more weight then the weight of the dried material is yawn H2O and the drying rate will further go up. The rate of drying is directly proportional to temperature and weight comparable to that yawn H2O.
