MODEL PENATAAN KAWASAN PECINAN PADA KOTA PANTAI YANG BERBASIS BUDAYA DAN BERSINERGI DENGAN AKTIVITAS EKONOMI MASYARAKAT

Abstract

This proposed three-years research entiles Spatial Arrangement Model of Cultural-Based Coastal City Chinatown Synergizing with the Economic Activities of Society. In this first year, the research was studying the question of how the history of the Chinatown of Semarang city in the context of the historical development of Semarang City at large. Is there interelasi between the emergence and growth of Semarang as a center of government and industrial city in the past with the existence and development of Chinatown? As a region that once had the strong characteristic values of Chinese culture, is it still can be identified in present time and how it is done. It also reviewed and analyzed, how and why Chinatown has potential as an area that is very thick with cultural values of China. Any Potential owned Chinatown in Semarang can be developed and can be used as basic capital for regional arrangement that synergize with economic activities of the society? The methods used include the method of history, sociology and anthropology. From this research can be known, that the Chinatown area of Semarang has a large potential to be developed as a cultural conservation that became one of the identity of Semarang, and the synergy with the economic activities of society. The potential of Chinatown area can be seen from the aspect of historical, geographical and ecological potential, socio-cultural, economic and political potentials.
