Abstract

Background : Every year in Indonesia there are an estimated 6 per 100,000. Incidence of nephrotic syndrome children are 15 times more frequently than in adults. Parents as part closest to the child is expected to have sufficient knowledge and attitudes that support will be formed so that health behaviors that support the care of children with nephrotic syndrome. Objectives : To observe the relationship between knowledge and behavior of parents of children with nephrotic syndrome. Methods : The subject of this cross sectional approach. Research subjects were the parents who have children with nephrotic syndrome who came to the Polyclinic dr.Kariadi Hospital Semarang April-June 2011. The data is collected by filling a valid questionnaire. Data were analyzed with Spearman's correlation test using SPSS ver 15 for Windows with a value of p <0.05. Result : The number of respondents in this study a total of 29, most were high school education (51.7%). Work is the largest private capital amounting to 51.7%. Source of health care costs is insurance that is widely used by 68.9%. As many as 51.7% of respondents had a level of knowledge is good and 82.8% of respondents behave properly. Conclusion : Parent’s knowledge have a signifficant correlation with health behaviour concerning children with nephrotic syndrome.
