Abstract

Backgrounds : Hypertension is often found in elderly, women and men aged over 65 years. This happens due to old age the body’s organs as a declined, especially kidney and liver function. With reduced function of hypertension in the elderly need special handling. Based on existing research on the factors in people with hypertension grade II. Found several factors that can cause hypertension. Expected to find out what factors can lead to hypertension. Can improve the prevention of hypertension as early as possible and increase the productivity of the elderly. Objectives : Knowing the various factors related to the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. Methods : This study used an observational design with cross sectional approach. Subject of this study were elderly people who come to the geriatric of DR Kariadi hospital, Semarang in April-June 2011. Study sample of 34 respondents. The data was collected by filling a questionnaire. The data described in tables form using the chi-square with SPSS windows ver. 16.0. Result : Number of respondents in this study as many as 34 people. Analysis of factors related to the incidence of hypertension in the elderly, found p = 0,01 (significant) on family history. Conclusion : The relationship between family history of hypertension incidence there is a significant result. Whereas gender, smoking habits, salt intake, consumption of saturated fat foods, the use of cooking, a history of alcohol drinking, exercice habits, and nutritional status has no significant value.
