Abstract

Background : Red bean plan is well knwon as fibrous source, which is mean it’s role in controlling the blood glucose level become very important. Beside rich of fibrous, red bean also good source of protein, carbohydrate, vitamine, and mineral. Red bean is a source of complex carbohydrate and fibrous which is soluble fibrous and unsoluble fibrous. The purpose of this experiment is to prove the merit of red bean extract can decrease the blood glucose level by giving red bean extract to pre-loaded glucose wistar rats. Method : The study was conducted by employing a complete Randomized Post Test Control Group Design in 25 local male wistar rats, weight 200-250 gr, and 3-4 month old, which was divided into 5 different groups. The blood glucose level was measured using glucometer One Touch®UltraTM at 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minute after the glucose tolerant was given. The data was processed using SPSS for Windows Release 15. Result : Given red bean extract give influence in decrease glucose blood level, it’s showed by meaningful diffrences between negative group and treatment group with p<0,05 as the result. This diffrences shows from minute 30 in the 3rd group (p=0,050) and 4th group (p=0,001). While in 2nd group meaningful diffrence shows from minute 90 (p=0,000). conparing result detween negative and positive group is( p=0,000) from minute 30 until 120. Conclusion : Given dossage of red bean extract (Vigna Angularis) in 0,063gr/200grW; 0,126gr/200grW; 0,252gr/200grW can decrease the blood glucose of wistar rat which is loaded by glucose. But the hypoglicemic effect of red bean extract (Vigna Angularis) with those dossage showed that the blood glucose decrease not more than 6,3gr/kgW Glibenklamid drug dossage.
