Abstract

Background: The hygiene or cleanliness usually defined as an attempt to maintain a healthy lifestyle which includes personal hygiene, social life, and hygiene work. Environmental sanitation is the business of self-control of environmental factors that may cause adverse terms of physical development, health and decreased endurance of the human body. Nutritional status is a condition of the body caused by the balance between nutriet intake with the needs. Scabies is a skin disease that is transmitted to humans, but most often occurs in children and adolescents. The prevalence of scabies in developing countries around 6% -27% in the general population and tend to the children. The purpose of this study was to the correlation between personal hygiene and environmental sanitation in the incidence of scabies disease among the children. Methods: The study design was observational and use of cross-sectional approach. Population and sample study were 10-12 years olds who attend did school in SD Negeri 3 Madyogondo grades 4, 5 and 6. Data were collected by interview using a questionnaire. Components of the questionnaire include did environmental sanitation, personal hygiene and nutritional status. Results: This study found there were tests found that there correlation between the incidence of scabies personal hygiene (p = 0.001), there was correlation between the incidence of scabies nutritional status (p =0,015) and there was no correlation between sanitation in the incidence of scabies disease (p = 0.561). Conclusion: There was significant correlation between personal hygiene and nutritional status with the incidence of scabies, but in environmental sanitation the result found there was no significant correlation the incidence of scabies disease.
