Abstract

Background :lidahbuaya leaves contain anthraquinon which has laxative effect, Cglucosylchromone which stimulates insulin secretion, and mannose-phospate which converts the enzyms that metabolite glucoses. The purpose of this experiment is to proof that the merit of lidahbuaya leaves can decrease blood glucose level by giving decoctaof lidahbuaya leaves on pre-loaded wistar rats. Method :The study was conducted by employing a complete Randomized Post Test Control Group Design. Decoctaof lidahbuaya leaves were chosen as the main substance as Glibenclamide as a comparison. The main substance was tested on white wistar rats at single dose orally. The blood glucose level was measured using glucometer One Touch®UltraTMevery 30 minutes for 120 minutes. Result :2,5ml which consist 140 gr of lidah buaya leaves; 5ml which consist 280 gr of lidah buaya leaves; 10 ml which consist 560 gr of lidah buaya leaveshave effectiveness in decreasing blood glucose levelat minute 30, 60, 90, and 120 in a row for 48,6 %, 69,2 %, 80,3 %, 68,7 %, 37,5 %, 50,7 %, 64,9 %, 69,9 %, 29,6 %, 62,2 %, 65,8 %, 78,8 %. Conclusion : 2,5ml , 5ml, and 10 ml doses of decocta lidah buaya leaves can decrease the pre-loaded wistar rats’ blood glucose level. However, the hypoglycaemic effect of decocta of lidah buaya leaves at the doses above shows smaller reduction of blood glucose level compared to glibenclamid0,126 gr dose. Key words :Decocta of lidahbuaya leaves, Blood glucose level
