Abstract
Background: Anemia is a condition of the body where there is deficiency in erythrocytes or hemoglobin levels. Anemia can be measured by various indicators such as measurement of levels and ferritin serum. The purpose of this study is to learn about the association between nutrition intake and anthropometric status with hemoglobin and ferritin levels in female adolescence in the orphanage. Methods: This research used cross-sectional study model using female adolescents live in At-Taqwa aged 13-18 as the sample. Antropometric measure such as height, weight, MUAC, and venous blood sample was taken, and nutrient intake data was also taken using Quantified FFQ. The data described in the form of tables and figures, and were analyzed using Pearson and Spearman’s test using SPSS. Results: After being analyzed with Pearson and Spearman test , there are no significant association between nutrient intake with hemoglobin levels, ferritin, and anthropometric status (p>0.05). There were no significant association between IMT with hemoglobin and ferritin levels, also MUAC with ferritin. However, there is a significant relationship between MUAC with hemoglobin levels (p=0.034). Conclusion : There were no association between nutrient intake and BMI with hemoglobin and ferritin levels. Further study is needed to learn the association between nutrient intake and BMI with anemia, iron deficiency, and other iron biochemical indicators.
