Abstract

Background: Urinary catheter is one of the candiduria risk factors. Therefore, in the urinary catheters should be settled in accordance with fixed procedures (SOPs), take into account of aseptisitas and length of installation. Permanent catheter should not be too long attached. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of longer urinary catheter attached to the candiduria incidence. Expected from this study can help determine how long a urinary catheter installed, so that no candiduria. Methods: This study was a cross sectional study. Subjects were patients with persistent urinary catheter placed, with the inclusion criteria all patients with persistent urinary catheter installed and candiduria positive laboratory result. Tools needed in this research is secondary data is data from medical records to find out information about the long catheter is inserted and the data from the laboratory to determine the incidence of candiduria. Result: There are 112 positive candiduria, but only 50 patients with indwelling catheter installed, so the number of subjects that can be analized is only 50 patients. The average of urinary catheter installed is 6,78 (± 5,70) days. Conclusion: Incidence of candiduria begin after urinary catheter installed is 6,78 (± 5,70) days Keywords: candiduria, urine catheter
