Abstract

Background: Until now, Glaucoma disease has causing blind at number two after cataract, and the blind because of glaucoma is permanently. However, the blind because of glaucoma can be removed with a primary detections and good treatment for patients of glaucoma. General practitioner as a primary practitioner has highly contribution to detect the patients with glaucoma. That contribution will be better if knowledge about glaucoma disease was good. Research want know the knowledge of general practitioner about glaucoma disease and factors that affected. Methods: This study was an observational analytic study with cross sectional design and variable assess in one way. The subjects are general practitioners 20-60th years old who lived in Semarang at 2011 that include in criteria. Subjects were chosen by purposive sampling. Data have responded by structure questionnaire. Data has analyze with SPSS ver 17 for Windows in Spearman test because both variables had ordinal scales (non parametrict test) and Lambda test for nominal variable and ordinal variable that degree was not same. Results: This study showed general practitioner knowledge about glaucoma disease was good for 31 subjects (73,8%) and moderate for 11 subjects (26,2%). There are no significant affect between age, sex, has joined in seminar/ course with general practitioner knowledge about glaucoma disease, because p=0,109, p=0,117, p=0,205. And this study showed significant affect between Medical Institution Study with practitioner knowledge about glaucoma disease and p=0,047. Conclusion: Medical Institution Study was significant affect with practitioner knowledge about glaucoma disease.
