Abstract

Sub-district of Guntur is one of the districts with the sector on the basis of the agricultural sector and the highest level of productivity of farmers in the District of Demak, existing problems of lack of human resources, access to capital, information, and land owned by relatively small thus causing relative productivity of small farmers gained. In community development and increase the productivity of rural farmers must not only oriented to economic aspects, but must be supported by the social aspects that can not be separated from the role of local organizations that have a role as an effective means of governing society in the implementation of individual development to increase productivity. If the existence of these local organizations continue to run and its existence is recognized and required by the community, it is likely that local organizations have the high social capital. To examine social capital in the agricultural aspects of it will be categorized as local organizations (farmer groups) and local institutions (Telaga Boga). The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of social capital on the productivity of farmers and formulate strategies for increasing the productivity of farmers through the strengthening of social capital. The results showed that in Guntur District District community interaction among fellow farmers Demak there are attitudes and values of harmony, life mutual help, mutual trust, and strive forward to meet the needs of families. This is in harmony with the norms developed in the community and the lives of people who have social capital that seen in the activities of Lake Boga a bit much to give a solution and way out of the existing problems. From field observations with 110 respondents found that there were 42 respondents expressed the confidence level 100%, 44 respondents stated that the confidence level of 80%, 16 respondents expressed the confidence level of 60%, 5 respondents said 40% confidence level, one respondent stated level of confidence of 20%, and 2 respondents said 0% level of confidence. It is known that the 10 respondents to participate following five organizations, 31 respondents participated following 4 organizations, 48 respondents participated following the three organizations, 19 respondents participated following the two organizations, and 2 respondents participate follow an organization. It is known that 16 of respondents said there were nine organizations, eight respondents stated that there are 8 organizations, 35 respondents said there were seven organizations, 20 respondents said there are 6 organizations, 23 respondents said there are five organizations, four respondents said there were four organizations, and 4 respondents stated that there are 3 the organization. It is known that 95 respondents stated that 100% comply with existing norms, eight respondents stated that 80% adhere to the norm, as one respondent stated 60% comply with existing norms, as many as five respondents stated that 40% comply with existing norms, and one respondent states do not comply with the norm that exist in society.
