Abstract
ABSTRACT Maritime business is a decended-down activity in Ujungwatu village. This paper aims at explaning the motivation, perception on maritime business, and orientation of work of the village community involving three social classes, those are rich fishermen (the bos), the middle class fishermen, and the poor ones. This study can be the basic for making micro policy on maritime. The result shows that for motivation, the people chose fishing as their earning because of relatively small of risk, and it can to done every days. Convering peception, they think the activity is not so promising that they are pessimistic due to unstable price of fish. Inrelation to work orientation, the tend to continue the maritime business with land-earning activities such as being carpenters and brick layers. The most favourite job wanted is being office-workers, either in gouverenmental or private sectors. Key words : Work motivation, Perception on maritime business, Work orientatie
