Abstract
To establish wireless network to sending information can approximate from data rate, coverage area, network topology, network size, routing protocol and consumption power. Coverage area is one of aspect in wireless network, it’s a signal distribution in a region. This final project, predics coverage base station antenna on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) 900. The parameters that using to prediction coverage area such as: downlink frequency, antenna height, antennas type (Kathrein 730370, Kathrein 730376, Kathrein 739630, Kathrein 732691 and Kathrein 732967) ,and antenna location. Propagation models uses Okumura Hatta and Walfish Ikegami to forecast cell radius antenna and xdraw methode to analyze of viewshed. The simulation result in this final project acquired that the largest coverage area in Walfish Ikegami propagation model in metropolitan area is 2,2 Km2 using Kathrein 730370 placed 72 meters above earth surface, and in sub urban area is 7,47 Km2 using Kathrein 730370 placed 72 meters above earth surface. The second propagation models is Okumura Hatta, shown that the largest coverage area in urban area is 36,36 Km2 using Kathrein 730376 placed 72 meters above earth surface, in sub urban area is 63,3 Km2 using Kathrein 732967 placed 72 meter above earth surface, and in rural area is 78,47 Km2 using Kathrein 732967 placed 72 meters above earth surface. Keywords : coverage area, propagation model, antenna height, and antenna location
