Abstract

Bioethanol is ethanol that made by biomass containing with sugar components, starch, or cellulose. Bioethanol is usually used to an ingridient for making liquor, for medical purposes, as a solvent, and that are popular today is the use of bioethanol as an altenative fuel. The use of bioethanol as a fuel mixed with gasoline is called gasohol. Snake fruit (Salacca zalacca) contains starch and sugar so that it is possible to be processed into ethanol by fermentation. The process of sugar into bioethanol can be done with the aid of microorganism and it is a one step process, while processing starch into bioethanol is a two steps process, and processing fiber into bioethanol is a three steps process. Making bioethanol with basic ingridients of this banana fruit through two stage of the process of fermentation and distillation process. The process of fermentation convert glucose into ethanol with the aid of bacteria contained in cereviceae saccharomyces yeast bread. The process of distillation is purrification process to increase the levels of ethanol producedin fermentation processes. The reactor consists of a series of bioethanol fermentation tanks or tank distilator heating and condenser. For bioethanol the experiment results, it can be concluded that more used amount of yeast more higher level of alcohol obtained. From the results of experiments on the manufacture of bioethanol from banana with variable addition of yeast 1%, 1,5%, 3%, 5%, and 7,5% obtained the highest alcohol content of bioethanol with 54, 16% of the fifth variables with the addition 7,5% of yeast.
