Abstract
Drying is a process-water discharge of the material by using heat energy so that the water content of the material is decreased. Drying process is usually accompanied by the evaporation of water contained in the materials. Corn is an important food crop except rice and wheat. Corn comes from Mexico. Corn used as a staple food by the Madura and Nusa Tenggara because it has a high carbohydrate content than that of maize could be used as animal feed. From the nutritional content, corn is a food that many benefits, such as sources of protein, fats, vitamins, and carbohydrates In this lab used a rotary dryers dryer to dry corn. Rotary dryer consists of a horizontal cylindrical shell mounted on a roller bearing, so the cylinder can rotate and form a tilt angle position slightly. Feed inserted at the high end of the cylinder, and will come out as a dry product at the other end. As the heater can be used hot air or exhaust combustion products still have a high temperature. In the drying of corn applies inferential dryer rotary that temperature excelsior used the drying speed excelsior and temperature excelsior applied hence would be ever greater also water content evaporated in corn.
