Abstract

The devices C6713 DSP starter kit is available in the Laboratory of Electronics and Microprocessors, but has not been used optimally. Experiments using the device has been done with C programming language. Therefore, research on implementation using Matlab Simulink software is needed to optimize the use of the tool. Application are applied is a digital audio effects. Program design begins with making models in Simulink of each effect, then independently simulated and take a picture signal. Then the program in C language is built according to the Simulink model by CCS so that resulting file with extension .out. This file is downloaded to the C6713 DSK board. Testing is done by listening to sound effects through a loudspeaker and observe the signal through an oscilloscope. The devices are required such as microphone, loudspeaker, digital oscilloscope, Simulink, and Code Composer Studio. Simulation with Matlab by stand-alone describes the ideal conditions. In the echo effect, the greater buffer cause distance between the loops are also getting bigger, while the value of gain can be adjusted up or down. On the reverb effect, the greater buffer will be getting effect closer to echo while gain effect on the number of loops that occur. In the chorus effect, the greater value of vector LFO cause the double-sound effect heard more obvious. Downsampling can generate effect like Alvin’s voice on Simulink simulation. The frequency increased from 39.836 Hz to 310.27 Hz and the sound velocity increased from 1.614 seconds to 0.806 seconds. However, in testing with DSK, the results have not been as expected because the downsampling process can not be applied in real-time systems. Therefore, research other methods is needed such as changing the pitch of input signal. Keywords : C6713 DSP starter kit, simulink, audio effects
