Abstract

Drying is a water process discharge of the material by using heatenergy so that the water content of the material is decreased. Drying process is usually accompanied by the evaporation of watercontaine in the materials. Green beans are a type of cultivated plants and crops are widely known in the tropics. Plants belonging to the tribe of legumes (Fabaceae) has many benefits in everyday life as food sources high in protein vegetable. Green beans in Indonesia ranks as the third most important food legume crop after soybeans and peanuts. The most valuable parts of the economy is the pits.. In this lab used a rotary dryer dryers to dry the peanuts. Rotary dryer consists of a horizontal cylindrical shell mounted on a roller bearing, so the cylinder can rotate and form a tilt angle position slightly. Feedin serted at the high end of the cylinder, and will come out as a dry product at the other end. As the heater can be used hot air or exhaustcombustion products still have a high temperature. In the drying of peanuts using rotary dryer can be concluded that the higher the temperature the higher the rate of drying is used and the more material used the lower the rate of drying. The rate of drying will decrease if the water layer that covers the material has a thin, waterin uapkan the less, so it needs a little heat.
