Abstract
Turning process plays an important role in manufacturing industry. Almost all cilyndrical specimen worked with turning machine. But the unperfect process is often unrealized by the operator. Thus, we need a method to monitor a tool condition. The goal of the experiment is to introduce a method of tool condition monitoring during a turning process. The experiment begin with tool identification, we have two kind of tool condition, new condition, and with BUE (Built Up Edge) condition. Two kind of that tool used in a turning process. In that turning process, the vibration of the tool and the surface roughness of the product are measured. And then the data will be collected and analyzed. The result of the experiment indicates a high vibration amplitude if the tool wear is high. And the surface roughness of the product also high. Keyword : Turning process, Tool condition monitoring
