Abstract

Telah dilakukan sintesis lempung terpilar dengan metode interkalasi lempung dengan spesies kation Al/Fe meruah yang bertindak sebagai penukar kation antarlapis lempung. Pilarisasi dilakukan dengan pengadukan lempung menggunakan larutan pemilar polikation aluminium-ferri pada komposisi yang berbeda selama 24 jam. Lempung terpilar diperoleh dengan kalsinasi lempung terinterkalasi yang mengubah kation hidroksida AllFe menjadi pilar oksida. Komposisi larutan pemilar Al/Fe divariasi untuk melihat pengaruhnya terhadap perubahan basal spacing dan kristalinitas lempung terpilar. Lempung terpilar dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRD dan diuji aktifitas adsorpsinya untuk penjernihan minyak cengkeh. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penambahan komposisi spesies Fe menurunkan basal spacing dan kristalinitas. Sebaliknya efektivitas adsorpsinya semakin besar. Basal spacing terbesar (18,7 A) dan kristalinitas yang tinggi dihasilkan oleh lempung terpilar AllooFeo. Daya adsorpsi tertinggi dihasilkan oleh lempung terpilar AloFeroo yaitu mencapai 94,57 % dan efektif mengadsorpsi warna pengotor minyak cengkeh hingga rasio 1/70. It has been studied the synthesis of pillared clay with intercalated method by bulky species cations Al/Fe as cation exchanged interlayers. Pillaring process obtained by stiring clay with pillaring agents of polycations aluminium-ferri through compositions varied during 24 hours. Pillared clay obtained by calcination intercalated clay to convert AUFe hydroxy cations to be oxides pillar. The pillaring agents of AUFe varied considering effects on basal spacing and crystallinity of pillared clay. Characterization executed by XRD instrument and it was tested adsorption activity to purifying clove oil. The results showed that by increasing Fe species decreased basal spacing and crystallinity. On the contrary adsorption effectivity increased significantly. The highest basal spacing (18.7 A) and high crystallinity were resulted by AlioaFeo¬Pillared Clay. Optimum adsorption effect were obtained AllooFeloo-Pillared Clay sample, there is until 94.57 % and effectively until ratio 1/70.
