Abstract

Modification on natural zeolite from Wonosari by means dealumination has been done in order to increase the Si/Al ratio, surface area and transform the structure of zeolite. Zeolite immersed in HC1 under variation of 4, 5, 6, and 7 N, then neutralized and dried at 120 °C. Sequently, The process as done before despite immersing in NH4NO3 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 N, then calcined at 250 °C for 4 hours. Preelementary analysis was performed using AAS in order to determine the highest Si/A1 ratio. XRD, BET, and FT1R were used to characterize natural zeolite and dealuminated zeolite. Results show that the Si/A1 ratio increased from 5.31 to 26.87 at 6 N HC1 and 2 N NH4NO3. The dealuminized zeolite has spesific surface area 14.77 m2g-1 and cristalinity 13.93 % higher than the natural zeolite.
