Abstract
The comparation test between wet and dry ashing for determination method of both copper and zinc in bitter gourds (Momordica charantia L.) has been constructed by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometiy (FAAS). The objective to get an accurate pretreatment method for copper and zinc determinations. Wet ashing was carried out by heating the samples in HNO3 and H2SO4 (3 : 1) mixture with H202 as an oxidator. Meanwhile, dry ashing was performed by ashing the samples in furnace at 500 °C for 3 hours and then dissolving with H2SO4. The experimental results show that wet and dry asking for copper were 0.153 - 0.330 mg/100 g with recovery 90.73 ± 16.05 % and 0.370 -¬0.521 mg/100 g, recovery 74.13 ± 3.93 %. Meanwhile for zinc were 0.577 -1.105 mg/100 g with recovery 91.83 ± 16.10 % and 0.613 - 0.900 mg/1.00 g, recovery 94.67 ± 27.96 %. From t student's and F tests with interval confidence of 95 %, it was concluded that both of ashing methods gave the same result for copper and zinc determinations.
