Abstract
Zeolit merupakan sumber daya alam yang melimpah, tetapi pemanfaatannya belurn optimal. Zeolit dikenal sebagai adsorben, karena sifat selektivitasnya yang tinggi. Daya adsorpsi zeolit dapat ditingkatkan melalui metode dealuminasi dengan asam. Modifikasi zeolit alam dengan metode dealuminasi asam menggunakan H2SO4 dan HC1, serta aplikasinya untuk mengadsorpsi indigo carmine telah dilakukan. Pada tahap dealuminasi direaksikan zeolit alam dengan campuran KMn04-H2SO4 dan campuran KMnO4-HC1 kemudian direfluks selama 5 jam (80°C) lalu hasilnya di cuci dengan aquades sampai pH netral dan dikeringkan selama 12 jam pada suhu 80°C. Hasil yang diperoleh dikarakterisasi dengan XRD, SSA dan Spektroskopi IR. Kemudian adsorpsi dilakukan dalam sistem batch-shaker selama 30 menit dengan variasi konsentrasi indigo carmine. Berdasarkan difraktogram XRD diperoleh bahwa zeolit alam dan zeolit terdealuminasi mempunyai kandungan modernit. Dealuminasi memberikan peningkatan rasio Si/Al dari 0,935 menjadi 2,075 dan 7,912 yang berarti bahwa dealuminasi berhasil dilakukan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi indigo carmine oleh zeolit II lebih baik dari zeolit I dan zeolit I lebih baik dan zeolit alam. Data IR menunjukkan bahwa tidak terjadi perubahan struktur zeolit sebelum dan setelah adsorpsi Zeolite is natural resources, but there less optimalize. Zeolite is good adsorben because of high selectivity. It's characteristic can be increased with acid dealumination methode. Natural zeolite modification by acid dealumination methode using H2SO4 and HCI and its application for indigo carmine adsorption has been conducted. In dealumination step, natural zeolite has been reacted by the mixture of KMn04-H2SO4 and KMnO4-HCI, then refluksed in 5 hour (80°C) then its cleaned by aquades until pH neutral and dried in 5 hour at 80°C. XRD (X-ray diffraction), AAS (Atomic Adsorption Spectroscopi), and IR method use to characteritation the result. Adsorpstion was done in batch-shaker system in 30 minute with variation of concentration of indigo carmine XRD diffractogram for the product of dealumination have content of mordenite. Dealumination make the increasing of Si/A1 ratio from 0.935 for the sources become 2,075 and 7.912 for the product. It's means that dealumination methode is succesful. Result showed that indigo carmine adsorption zeolite II was better than zeolite I and zeolite I was better than natural zeolite. IR data showed that there was no change of zeolite structure before and after adsorption.
