Abstract
Telah dilakukan sintesis garam SnC12 dan bahan kemasan berlapis timah. Oksida timah diperoleh dengan mendestruksi abu kemasan berlapis timah dengan HNO3 pekat. Sintesis garam SnC12 dilakukan dengan merefluks oksida timah dengan HC1, NaC1 atau KC1, selama 2 jam pada suhu 200 C. eampuran disaring dalam keadaan panas, filtrat didinginkan, endapan yang terbentuk dipisahkan. Karakterisasi produk dilakukan dengan menentukan titik leleh dan daya reduksinya. • Disimpulkan bahwa HCl merupakan sumber ion Cl" yang lebilt balk daripada NaC1 dan KC1. Garam yang dihasilkan adalah serbuk berwarna putih keabu abuan, inempunyai titik leleh 243 —248 °C dan bersifat sebagai reduktor. Synthesis SnCl2 salt has been done by using tinplate-cans as raw materials. The synthesis was carried out by reflux the mixture tin oxide and HC1, NaCI or KCI at 200 °C about 2 hour. The mixture filtered in hot condition then cooled, the deposits separated. The product was characterized by determinated melting point and it reduction activity. It was cocluded that HCI was the best source of Cl- than NaCI and KC1. The product has white gray colour, melting point 243 — 248 °C and can be used as reductor
