Abstract

Anacardium occidentale L. merupakan salah satu tanaman yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai tanaman obat. Berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan terutama mengenai efek Anacardium occidentale L. terhadap berbagai hewan uji, seperti uji efek antiinflamasi dan antipiretik, pengaruh terhadap reproduksi keong, daya antibakteri dan khasiat sebagai obat cacing. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengidentifikasi salah satu senyawa yang terkandung dalam Anacardium occidentale L. pada bagian kulit biji untuk memperdalam penelitian-penelitian yang telah dilakukan serta menguji aktivitasnya. Isolasi dilakukan menggunakan metode perkolasi dengan pelarut kloroform dan pemisahan menggunakan kromatografi kolom dan KLT preparatif serta pemurnian senyawa terisolasi menggunakan metode kristalisasi dan rekristalisasi. Identifikasi senyawa terisolasi dilakukan dengan menginterpretasi spektra UV, IR dan massa dan senyawa terisolasi. Uji aktivitas dilakukan terhadap ekstrak pekat, fraksi hasil kromatografi dan senyawa terisolasi menggunakan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. Hasil Identifikasi senyawa terisolasi menggunakan metode spektroskopi menunjukkan adanya gugus-gugus asam karboksilat, hidroksil, benzena dan alkana rantai panjang serta berat molekul sebesar 348. Disimpulkan senyawa terisolasi adalah asam anakardat, dengan rantai panjang hidrokarbon jenuh. Hasil uji aktivitas senyawa terisolasi menunjukkan LC50 sebesar 15,848932 ppm dimana menurut Meyer senyawa ini dapat digolongkan sebagai zat antikanker. Anacardiurn occidentale L. is one of vegetation that can be advantaged as medical plant. Many researches have been carried out primarily as to influences of the Anacardium occidentale L., like ant inflammation and antipyretic effect trials, influence toward snails reproduction, antibacterial effect and possible specialty as medicine for particular worm. This research is managed in identifying one of the compound contained in Anacardium occidentale L. especially in its nutshell to deepen the prior researches which have been done and to assess its activity. Isolation was performed by the application of percolation with chloroform as solvent, where separation was achieved using column chromatography and TLC preparative and the purification of the isolated compound was done by interpreting UV, IR and mass spectra of the related compound. The activity assessments were carried out toward crude, chromatography-resulted fractions and the isolated compound by using the method of Brine Shrimp Lethality Test. Results from identification of the isolated compound by means of spectroscopy methods showed the presence of carboxylic acid, hydroxyl, benzene and long-chained alkane groups with molecular weight of 348. It is concluded that the isolated compound is anacardic acid, with long-chained saturated hidrocarbon. The activity assessments resulted in the LC50 value of the isolated compound of 15.848932 ppm in which, according to Meyer this compound has a possibility as anticancer agent.
