Abstract
Zeolit as adsorbent of organic compounds in treatment of liquid waste of tapioca has been observed in many researches. The researches have not yet obtained an optimum result on account of not having employed good zeolite (with high Si /Al). In this research, therefore, the zeolites used was Cipatujah zeolite in order to know the zeolite capacity in reducing organic compound content in liquid waste of tapioca. Natural zeolite (Cipatujah) was dealuminated by using NH4NO3 1 M and was calcinated at 300 °C to obtain active zeolite. The result of dealumination reach Si/Al of 16.734. And strach concentration, turbidity, and COD of the filtrate were measured at optimum time 150 minutes. The adsorption which was done repeatedly could reduce strach concentration and turbidity by 93.63 % and COD by 84.00 % while zeolite from adsorption residue could be utilized as adsorbent more for five times. From the result, activated Cipatujah zeolite can be effectively utilized as adsorbent in treatment of liquid wate of tapioca.
