Abstract

Hasil penelitian untuk variasi waktu selama 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, dan 5 jam di bawah sinar lampu ultraviolet diperoleh data penurunan jumlah bakteri total coliform dan Escherichia coli dari 1100 menjadi 20 sedangkan di bawah sinar matahari dari 1100 menjadi 0 dengan peningkatan temperatur pada penjemuran di bawah sinar matahari dari 28°C sampai 57°C. Kadar logam Fe dari semula 0,048 ppm turun menjadi 0,030 ppm. Ternyata sinar matahari lebih efektif sebagai desinfektan dibandingkan dengan lampu ultraviolet, dan kondisi optimum penyerapan selama 5 jam penjemuran di bawah sinar matahari pada kondisi yang baik dan paling tidak mencapai temperatur 55°C. Prosentase penunman logam Fe akibat bakteri total colifortn dan Escherichia coli dalam air sebesar 1,14 %. Water is basic need for human living and its treatment is to eliminate bacteria in many ways. Therefore, technology using sunlight as disinfectan is easy, inexpensive alternative and simple to use. Sunlight have good bacterisidal activity, where depend on uv light. It is natural method to eliminate bacteria (as disinfectan) The determination of optimum absorption of sunlight total coliform and Escherichia coil bacteria disinfectan using MPN method had been conducted. To compare the uv's effectivity as disinfectan, it is utilized uv-lamp. From the experiments, for this time variation of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 hours, under uv-lamp, the decrease in number of the total coliform and for Escherichia coil bacteria were 1100 until 20, and for sunlight were 1100 until 0, with increasing temperature 28°C until 57°C. And for the Fe content from 0.048 ppm decrease until 0.030 ppm. The result is that the uv-sunlight more effective to act as disinfectan than uv-lamp, and the best condition for optimum sunlight absorption during 5 hours under sunlight and the temperatur at least 55°C.
