Abstract

.fat warna dapat dihilangkan dari larutannya secara elekirolisaHal tersebut pernah diteliti sebelurrmya oleh Ibanez dkk.dengan memakai zat warna timol blue dan Famila Dwi Ningsih dengan memakai zat warna metil orange. Pads penelitian dilakukan elektrolisis terhadap larutan yang mengandung zat warna phenolptalein dengan maksud menghilangkarmya dari larutan dan mengetahui pengaruh potensial terhadap konstanta adsorpsi. Penghilangan phenolptalein dilakukan dalam sel elektrolisis dengan anoda besi dan katoda karbon, dengan bentuk dan ukuran yang dikonstankan , yang dialiri listrik dengan variasi potensial 4,5; 6,0; 7,5; 9,0; 12,0 volt selama 10, 15, 20,25,30, 35 menit dalam sistem statis. Larutan elektrolisa yag digunakan terdiri dari larutan phenolptalein 15 ppm dalarr. pelara u t isopropil alkohol dan aqades (3:2), 0,8 garn Na7SO4, beberapa tetes NaOH 0,5 M hingga pH-9,8. Filirat sampel hasil elektrolisis dianalisa dengan menggunakan kolorimeter yang telah dikalibrasi dengan spektrofotometerIN-Vis Shirnadzu pada 550 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konstanta laju adsorpsi phenolptalein pada 4,5; 6,0; 7,5; 9,0; 12,0 volt berturut-turut adalah 0,0171, 0,319, 0,568, 0,0606 dan 0,0754 Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa laju dekolorisasi phenolptalein tergantung pada variasi potensial dari luar. Dye can be decolorized from its solution electrolitically. This has investigated previously by Ibanez et.al by using timol blue and Famila Dwi Ningsih by using methyl orange. Electrolysis on solution containing phenolptalein for the purpose of decolorizing phenolptalein from solution and of observing the effect of potential on adsorption constant has been conducted in the research. Decolorization of phenolpptalein had been carried out in electrolysis cells with iron as anode and carbon as cathode, whose shape and size were kept constant, by passing a current of various potential of 4.5; 6.0; 7.5; 9.0; 12.0 volts for 10. 15. 20. 25. 30. 35 minutes in static system. Electrolysis solution used comprised 40 mL of phenolptalein 15 ppm in isopropyl alcohol and aquadest (3:2). 0.8 gram of Na2SO4. Several drop of NaOH 0.5 M until reaching pH= 9.8. Electrolysis filtrat was analyzed by using colorimeter calibrated with spectrofotometer UV-Vis Shimadzu at 550 nm. The results of the research showed that adsorption rate constant of phenolptalein at 4.5; 6.0; 7.5; 9.0; 12.0 volts were 0.0171; 0.319; 0.568; 0.0606 dan 0.0754 s-1 respectively. These results swowed that decolorization rate of phenolptalein depends upon variation of outer potential.
