Abstract
Zeolite activity for catalyst and adsorbant can be increased with dealumination by hydrochloric acid. Dealumination is a modification method with decreasing of aluminium in a zeolite, it would be increased the ratio of Si/Al and changed structure of crystals. This method was boilt zeolite in hydrochloric acid, and characterized zeolite with X-ray Diffraction (XRD) method and Fourier Transformation Infra Red (FTIR) Spectroscopy. The results of AAS analysis to ratio Si/Al for natural zeolite is 6.29 and dealuminated zeolite is 1334 after boiling in 6N HCl for 6 hours. The components of natural zeolites are clinoptilolite and montmorilonite. In other hand, the component of dealuminated zeolite is mordenite. Zeolite which are dealuminated had less cristalinity than before. At 407 - 792.7 cra1, spectra FTIR moved to higher frequency for zeolites are dealuminated.
