Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah dipelajari pengaruh penambahan natrium kiorida ter¬hadap laju korosi baja karbon dal= larutan asam sulfat Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara memvariasi komposisi asam sulfat natrium klorida, yaitu dengan per¬bandingan mol 1:1 ; 1:4 dan 1:8. Laju korosi untuk hap 'Bruton ditentukan dengan mengukur arus setiap 5 menit selama 120 menit. Potensial yang digunakan 0,5 V dan volume larutan 60 mL. Penelitian dilakukan pada suhu 28 °C. Data basil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju korosi baja karbon berkurang terhadap kenaikan konsentrasi natrium klorida dalam larutan asam sulfat. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan natrium kiorida me¬ngurangi laju korosi baja karbon dalam larutan asam sulfat. In this experiment, it. has. been observed the influence of sodium chloride to corrosion rate of carbon steel in the sulphuric acid solution. The experiment was done by varying the compoSition of sulphuric, acid and sodium chloride. The ratio of sul- pliurHC' acid - sodium chloride in mole were 1:1, 1:4 and 1:8. The corrosion rate for each solution was determined bylnea.suring the current every 5 minutes in a period of 120 minutes. The potential used was 0.5' V and the total volume of solution was 60 inL. The experiment was•done .at 28 °C. • The result showed that the corrosion rate of carbon steel decreased as the con¬centration of sodium 'chloride in the sulphuric acid solution increased. It can be concluded that the addition of sodium chloride decreases the corro-sion rate of carbonsteel in the sulphuric acid solution
