Abstract
Nurse is important worker in providing health services at a hospital. High quality of effective and efficient nursing services can be reached by supports of adequate nurse manpower both quantitatively and qualitatively. Optimal quality of nursing services can be obtained by balancing work burden and number of nurses. Therefore, it needs to determine number of nurse manpower in order to obtain effective and efficient officialdom. Calculation of nurse need based on category of patient is more effective because it considers effective hour of nurse. Aim of this research was to know number of nurses based on category of the patient at Inpatient Room of Dr. Amino Gondohutomo Hospital in Semarang. Type of this research was descriptive-analytic using Cross-Sectional approach. Collection of data used daily log. Number of sample was 22 persons. In terms of the sample characteristics, higher percentages of the respondents are females (63.7%), the younger age group/25-30 years of age (50.0%), D-III of Nursing (77.3%), government officer (86.4%), length of work more 4 years (59.1%), training of modality therapy (100%) and training of nursing management (13.6%). Classification of patient outlined here are minimal care (47.9%), partial care (38.9%), and total care (13.2%). Nursing services hour in which is needed in the category of the minimal care is 2.3 hours, in the category of the partial care is 3.8 hours, and in the category of the total care is 6.7 hours. The time average of daily work burden is 12.8 hours. It is comprised of 8 hours directly nursing services (33.4%), and 4.8 hours indirectly nursing services (20.0%). Nurses have 11.2 hours to do their personal business (46.6%). Calculation of nurse need uses Gillies Formula, Nursing Standard, and Douglas Formula. Result of the calculation at the Kresno Room based on the Giilies Formula is 13 persons, based upon the Nursing Standard is 13 persons, and based upon the Douglas Formula is 11 persons. Result of the calculation at the Larasati Room based on the Gillies Formula is 9 persons, based upon the Nursing Standard is 9 persons, and based upon the Douglas Formula is 8 persons.
