Abstract
Telah dilakukan penelitian kandungan merkuri pada beberapa merk kosmetika krim pemutih kulit yang ada di pasaran dengan Spektrofotometri Serapan Atom uap dingin. Sampel didestruksi dengan campuran asam sulfat dan asam nitrat dengan perbandingan 1 : 1 dan dipanaskan selama 3 jam, 4 jam dan 5 jam. Setelah didinginkan sampai temperatur ruang sampel dioksidasi dengan kalium permanganat dan dipanaskan selama 2 jam, kelebihan permanganat dihilangkan dengan hidroksilamin hidroklorida sampai larutan berwama iernih. Sampel direduksi dengan steno klorida dan diinjeksikan ke dalam instrumen AAS uap dingin. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa waktu pemanasan optimum di peroleh pada pemanasan selama 4 jam dengan kandungan merkuri dalam krim pemutih kulit antara 0,5148 ppm sampai 2,0601 ppm. Penggunaan bahan aktif yang mengandung merkuri sebagai pemutih kulit dalam krim pemutih kulit ternyata masih digunakan, meskipun penggunaan merkuri dan senyawanya dalam kosmetika telah dilarang karena toksitas dan akumulatifnya dalam tubuh manusia. Mercury contents in skin bleaching cream cosmetic in the market were investigated by mean of Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. The samples were destructed with the mixture sulfuric acid and nitric acid of 1: 1 ratio, and heated as long as 3, 4, and 5 hours. After cooling at room temperatur, the samples oxidiced with pottasium permanganate and heated in 2 hours. The excess of permanganate was disapeared by hydroxiamonium hydrochloride until clear solution was obtained. Samples was reduced by stanno chloride before aspirated to AAS instrument. The results show by the optimum heating time was reached in 4 hours while the mercury contents in skin bleaching cream between 0.5198 ppm until 2.0601 ppm. Application of active agent containing mercuri as lightening skin in whitening skin cream products still use, although useness of mercury and its compounds in cosmetics was forbidden because of its toxicity and accumulation in human body
