Abstract

Korosi merupakan masalah utama dari produk industri khususnya produk logam, karena korosi menurunkan mutu logam. Salah satu sifat yang menarik dari korosi adalah laju korosi, yang dinyatakan sebagai bekuranglpra berat per satuan luas per satuan waktu (mg cm min ). Berbagai metode telah banyak dilakukan untuk mengamati korosi dan dalam penelitian ini telah diooba dengan metode pengukuran resistansi. Dalam penelitian ini, diukur laju korosi logam tembaga yakni dengan mengamati perubahan resistansi kawat tembaga dengam diameter tertentu yang direndam dalam campu¬ram larutan asam dengan komposisi tertentu. Pengukuran resistansi dilakukan dengan selang waktu 15 menit selama 4 jam menggunakan metode standar empat kabel. Data resistansi yang diamati meningkat selama proses korosi yang mengindikasikan penurunan diameter kawat. Dengan metode pengukuran resistansi, laju korosi logam tembaga telah dapat diketahui dan ternyata, laju korosi dipengaruhi oleh dua hal pokok yaitu sifat logam dan pengaruh lingkungan. Laju korosi yang diamati meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan komposisi zat pengkorosi, Dan dengan metode pengukuran resistansi, laju korosi logam tembaga telah dapat diketahui. Corrosion is a main problem of industrial product, especially metal products, since the quality of metal will decrease. One of the interesting characteristic of :corrosion is corrosion rate which expressed_ he qange of i unit time weight i weg per unit area per unme ( mg cm min ). Some methods were carried out to observe the corrosion. And the :method of resistance measurenment has been tried in this 'research. In this research, the corrosion rate of copper metal was measured by observating of resistance change of metal with certain diameter and dipped into acid mixture in !various compositions. Resistance was carried out using the standard four-lead method at 15 minutes interval in 4 ;hours. The data of resistance was observed increase in Icorrosion process which indicates the decrease in diameter. The corrosion rate of copper metal can be detected by the resistance measurenment ,in fact, the corrosion rate was influenced by two main factors, namely metal charac¬teristic and environment. The corrosion rate was observed increase by composition of corrosive agent.
