Abstract

Demographic transition increases life expectancy, whereupon geriatric is important to keep public welfare. Health service is demanded in delivering qualified geriatric service. Dr Kariadi Hospital has been developing Geriatric Division to prvide the competitive standardized services. Although as a referral hospital, Dr Kariadi Hospital also increase non referral patients. Geriatric Divisison has been taking marketing activities and delivers standardized services. Visit data on 2005 shows that percentage of referral patient was higher (71,85 %) that non referral patient ( visit by themselves ) (28,15%). This research purpose was to reveal the difference of geriatric patient perception on inpatient service quality between referral patient and non referral patient. The research type was observational with cross sectional survey method to explain perception difference referral patients and 31 non referral patients. 62 patients were selected as sample, consists of 31 referral patient and non referral patient. Man-whitney analysis was used to hypothesis test, while multivariate test used was Mannova analysis. Qualitative data gathered by in depth interview to get information of services and marketing percept by patients. The research result shows that is no difference of patient perceptions on geriatric inpatient service between referral patient and non referral patient about service reliability ( p = 0,207), service resposiveness ( p = 0,598), service assurance ( p = 0,425), tangible of service ( p = 0,121), and empathy ( p = 0,797). Multivariate analisys indicates no coincide difference perception on geriatric inpatient service between referral patient and non referral patient ( p = 0,292) about service reliability, service resposiveness, service assurance, tangible of service and sevice empathy. It is recommended that Geriatric Division of Dr Kariadi Hospital always maintains and improves quality of inpatient service, while Hospital management also develops integrative marketing intensively to gain the broader market segment to increase patient visits by themselves.
