Abstract

A geophysical investigation had been performed to enquire the subsurface geological structure of Mount Bromo from October 2000 up to February 2001 by means of Gravity Method. The data acquisition was concentrated to the peak and the flank of the mount and there are 83 stations that were acquired by the Gravitymeter of La Coste and Romberg type G-1053 in the geographical location of 7°53 '32"-8°01 '31" S and 112°53 '45"-113°03 '59" E. The determination of the position and the elevation of the stations were carried out by means of Global Positioning system (GPS) DSNP 6000 bi-frequency series. The reduction of the field data was therefore conducted by the standard correction which resulted the complete Bouguer anomaly. The average density of the subsurface rocks of the mount was found of 2,4 g/cm3. The separation of the complete Bouguer anomaly was applied by means of the polynomial surface fitting to produce the regional and the residual anomaly of second, third and fourth order. A quantitative interpretation toward the third order residual anomaly was conducted by means of 2-D Talwani forward modeling that yielded geological structure model of Mount Bromo subsurface. From the geological structure model, four intrusions which are having same density that is 2.7 g/cm3 that one is found
