Abstract

Research about carburizing for stell has been carried out by using sputtering DC technique. . This research has been done with time variation (from 1 hour to 4 hours) at temperature constant of 400 °C. An also, the temperature was variated from 100 °C to 400 °C at the time deposition constant of 3 hours. The experiment was carried out at the pressure of 4 x 10-2 ton (5.26 x 10-5 atm), the distance of electrode plate is 2 cm, voltage 2.5 kV, and current 40 mA. The good result of hardness surface from this experiment was 700.4 gflum2 (686.9 x 101° N/m2) for time deposition of 3 hours and the temperature of substrate at 400 °C. From corrotion test, we found that corrotion speed decreases with increasing deposition time.
