Abstract
Gas pipe many used to channel fluid and gas, pipe welder process as according to operation and benefit from the pipe. election of material for piping is process required consideration about material characteristic and operating condition wanted. In process of welding often happened defect, one of defect type is the happening of crack. To analyse the happening of crack is done research to know various mechanical properties, chemical material property at some stage and sewer structures causing crack at gas pipe. Element alloy that cause increasing in hardenability of steel must be as lowest as possible, the effect of element alooy to cold crack toughnes frm HAZ can be seen from carbon ekivalen. Cracks can cause fracture. Crack and fracture related each other in order with crack opening, and sharp notes propagate under stress. Therefore cracks must always be avoided or eliminated.
