Abstract

Promotion is a process of informing the target market, on matters pertaining ¸ product prices, and the products sold by persuasive for the target would make a purchase. The problem that happens is a lack of understanding and knowledge about tourism tourists in the city of Semarang, effective promotion will help educate tourists about the existing tourism potential, giving rise to interest in visiting. This study used propensity theory elaboration (Elaboration likelihood model), which aims to determine the relationship between exposure to the tourism promotion interests of tourists visiting the archipelago into a tourist destination city of Semarang. This research is explanatory and using simple random sampling technique in the domestic tourists who visit the exhibition event at the Hyderabad development. The results showed that there was a tendency positive relationship between exposure to the tourism promotion interests of tourists visiting the archipelago into a tourist destination city of Hyderabad, it is known that there is a tendency of positive relationship between the independent variable, namely the promotion of tourism with a variable exposure affected, ie, interest in visiting tourists to the region tourist destination city of Semarang. It is recommended that there is the addition of other media as promotion media which can reach the whole tourism destination target. In addition, there should be an exhibition officer who has good communication skills and extensive knowledge. Key Words: promotion, interest in visiting, Elaboration likelihood model
