Abstract
Recycling is one of the great solutions to keep our nature in a better condition. One of these processes is brake pad’s production which uses the waste of cast iron, brass, polyethylene and also asbestos fiber. In order to make it in a good quality, the process production must be controlled well. Including the variation of sintering and holding time, because these processes influence the characteristic of a brake pad’s itself. Polyethylene will minimize the pores when it turns from solid phase into a liquid phase and bounds the particles. Based on that condition, this experiment uses 140 oC, 160 oC and 180 oC for a variety of temperature. The sintering heat process uses 150 minutes and 180 minutes for its holding time. Before the pad is sintered, it must be compacted in 7,78 Kg/mm2 and then the specimens are tested using Brinnel Hardness Method. After that, the prototype of Pad Brake is analyzed on its characteristic test through its wear, temperature and hardness. Keywords : brake pad, recycle waste, sintering, and holding time
