Abstract

The application of different color paint on the wall outside the home affects the heat that occurs inside the room and size of ventilation used. In this experiment using a model house with plaster walls with a size of 1 x 1 x 1.7 m3, and variations in paint colors used are white, gray, yellow, and without paint. Heat is happening in the room due to solar radiation can be determined by natural convection heat transfer mechanisms which increased the room temperature, and decreasing relative humidity chamber. Stored heat can be removed by the air through natural ventilation. The experimental results show the relationship between the heat in the room due to color variations that are used with measures to remove heat vent out for the condition of the room stay comfortable. Heat stored in the highest room in the gray color of 258.10 W, with no paint 245,45 W, 218.80 white, and yellow 225,67 W. From the calculation results also demonstrate the use of dark colors on the walls demanding needs of ventilation sizes larger than bright colors. Ventilation size needed for without paint of 0,163 m2, gray color of 0,211 m2, the white color of 0.093 m2, and color yellow of 0.098 m2
