The depletion of fossil energy sources as an energy source in Indonesia and the World led researchers to seek alternative energy to replace the fossil energy. One of the alternative energy sources is wind energy. The use of this wind energy in Indonesia can be realized using wind turbine in accordance with the speed winds in Indonesia (about 2.5-6 m/s). The most important aspect of wind turbine blade design is the determination of airfoil geometry which is expected have a value of CL/CD maximum. In order to determine the maximum value of CL/CD, first, simulation of artificial neural network in order for determining the relation between airfoil geometry and its aerodynamic characteristics. In this final project the joukowski transformation was applied to generate the airfoil geometry. Moreover, the optimization is conducted to get airfoil geometry which gives maximum CL/CD. In this final project based-gradient method and genetic algorithm were used as optimizer. The results were validated using FLUENT. It can be shown that the result are satisfies with error approximately 6%.
