Abstract

Inpatient room is one of the strategic business units, which has to be manager by a competent manager in order to be source of income. Head of roo is an operational manager who provides high quality of helath services. Therefore, it needs to value competency level of head of a room and work perfomance of a nurse in providing nursing care. Aim of this research was to know influence of managers competency to work performance of a staff. This research was an observational study using qualitative-quantitative design and cross cectional approach. Subject of reseach werw 10 persons who were head of a room and 66 nurses. Data were obtained by in depth interview in which contains in the following data, namely : perception of nurses about competency in doing planning, organizing, staffing, supervising, evaluating and cotrolling of quality. Those data were analized by content analysis . Data of work perfomance were obtained by measuring the nurseâs professonalism, documentation of nursing care, and hand over activities of nurses job officially. Data were analizad by descriptive analysis, chi square test,and logistic regresión test. Result of competency identification shows that implementation of managerial function is still not optimal. This condition is shown by perception of nurses namely percentage of competency of rooms head is 48,5% to 66,7%, level of nurses professionalism is 51,5%, documentation activities are 56,1%, and hand over activities of nurses job officialy are 42,4%. Result of statistical analysis shows that variable of competency influences work perfomance of nurse (Wald = 5.491, p = 0,019 (< 0,05) and Exp B = 4,689) Sumber Utama : www.mikm.undip.ac.id
