Abstract

TiO2 thin film have been successfully deposited on a glass substrate by spray coating method with a variety of coating up to four times as much. Effect of coating variation studied of the crystal structure, composer atoms composition, and the morphology of TiO2 thin films. Sol gel TiO2 has been synthesized with dissolve Titanium Tetraisopropoxide 0,5 M into Diethylene Glycol then stirred. After two hours of stirring, distilled water (H2O) and TiO2 powder added to the stirring slowly and stirred again for 12 hours. Gel TiO2 is placed on the spray holes and sprayed on a glass substrate that has been heated to a temperature of 60oC-70oC. TiO2 thin film oven at a temperature of 200oC for 30 minutes and sintering at a temperature of 450oC for 2,5 hours. The test results of crystal structure by XRD shows that the more coating causing the crystal quality and crystallite size of the TiO2 thin film increased. EDX characterization showed that the thin layer of TiO2 %At (percent atomic materials) consisting of 35,06% titania and 64,94% oxygen. SEM images showed that the grain size of crystals increases with increasing number of coatings. The results of characterization by using ellipsometry showed that the more value of the coating so the thickness of TiO2 thin film will increase too. TiO2 thin film has been tested for watertreatment. Photocatalytic reaction at TiO2 can clear up and eliminate odors that exist in water.
