Abstract

Coverage of polio 4 immunization at health centers in Semarang city in the past three years had not reached a target. This condition can cause transmission of polio disease. Aim of this research was to analyze relationship between function of management performed by head of the health centers and coverage of polio immunization at the health centers in Semarang city year 2007. Type of this research was observational using Cross-Sectional approach. Number of sample was 37 persons who were the head of the health centers in Semarang city. Data were analyzed quantitatively using Rank-Spearman test. Most of the respondents have already performed good planning, good organizing, good actuating and good monitoring. Furthermore, coverage of polio 4 immunization at the health centers has not reached the target (> 85%). Therefore, Semarang City Health Office should improve monitoring process especially towards the health centers that cannot reach the immunization target of polio 4 in 3 months respectively. Beside that, the office should perform peer review periodically, and allocate the routine budget every year to conduct immunization activity in the health centers. Head of a health center should not fully delegate immunization activities to a coordinator of immunization, should keep good communication with his/her staffs, should perform formal meeting every month, should attend meeting with the related inter-program and inter-sector every three month.
