Abstract

Indonesia is a country that most of its territory is sea water. One of the marine biological resources which are capable of producing important commodity is G. verrucosa, such as raw materials Agar industry. Cultivation G. verrucosa can be carried out in ponds in polyculture with milkfish and tiger shrimp, either through planting methods as well as the floating base. This study aims to understand the interaction between culture system and method of planting on growth and content Agar G. verrucosa. The study was designed using a Split Plot Design with the treatment system of monoculture, polyculture and polyculture is high, combined with cultivation bottom method and floating method. Each treatment is done 5 replicates. The results showed no interaction between cropping systems and planting methods on growth and content Agar of G. verrucosa. Culture system has no effect on fresh weight, dry weight and content Agar total G. verrucosa, but very real effect of planting method. Wet weight, dry weight and content for total G. verrucosa floating method is higher than the bottom method. Ingredients Agar the highest total in monoculture farming system with floating plant method reached 16, 64 grams.
